10 ways for churches to grow their ministries online!

Posted by: cooltech in Untagged  on

I've been in the web design business for about 10 years. Just like everyone else, I've been astonished on how the entire internet front as changed, especially the new boom of social networking. This is the new niche that everyone should be using and I mean everyone. Churches and Faith Based Organizations have a huge advantage to use technology to spread the gospel and grow their ministries. Churches always been my main client and audience. I really am not sure how but the churches leaders would call and ask for my assistant in various areas of their web sites. I would be elated to help and offer my services for the good will of the church community. However, I've seen a lot over and the years and I've decided to put together some basic tips that churches might want to utilize if their going to use the internet as a venue to grow their business.

10. Get a website. There are still many churches out there that don't have a web presence. If you're not able to afford to hire a web designer, there are many free tools on the internet that will literally walk you through the steps to get a site published.

9. Post your video sermons on YouTube as there is a world of people who might be blessed by your Sunday sermon.

8. Again, keep the site clean. A site that is busy with photos, images and lots of content can turn people away.

7. Use chat and invite people to come and talk about issues or maybe just for prayer.

6. Use a blog and talk about what's happening at the church. Blogging is a great resource that you can use to engage your users and allow them to see a personal side of what's going on at the church or organization.

5. Send out newsletters to your members to keep them informed on upcoming church events and other important information

4. Have a subscription form on your email for users who want to be added to the email list. This is great way to grow your ministry online.

3. Use a email blast like yahoogroups.com and send out word of the day or daily word scriptures. You never know who really might need to read the daily scripture for that day.

2. Post a calendar to users can see what events are happening at the church

1. Have an awesome designed website. In this day in time, a web site is a necessity and if you don't have a website or if you have a website with a really outdated design, people might get turned away or may not take your online ministry serious. Keep the design new and updated with pictures and content that speaks what is happening at your church.

There are many other ways to market your church website online. I hope this provided you with some ideas to get you on your way.

What is Manifest Destiny

Posted by: cooltech in Untagged  on

One of the most powerful skills you can learn is to manifest destiny. You see, when you learn how to manifest your destiny, you will be opening the doors to a whole new world. When you know how to manifest destiny, you can use those powers to do almost anything you want. Manifesting your destiny can advance your business, your social life, your finances and your love life. In order to truly manifest your destiny, you have to believe that it is going to work. That's right, take that Law of Attraction and use it to your advantage. Within this article, we are going to answer your question as to what is manifest destiny and tell you a bit of information about it.

The concept of manifest destiny is fairly simple. When you first decide what it is you wish to manifest, you put it in your mind and tell yourself that it will happen. If you just simply think that it would be 'nice' if it would happen, you would not get anywhere. In your mind, you must hold what you want to happen very firm. We cannot emphasize just how much you must simply 'know' it is going to happen. After this, all you will have to do is wait.

Yes, we make manifesting your destiny sound very easy, but you should not let this fool you. If you ever drift into thinking that manifesting your destiny is a joke, then it will become a joke.

You will need to know exactly what it is that you want and tell the universe you want it. Focus on all of your thoughts and be happy, because you are going to receive what you desire. After that, you need to be open to receiving what you need. Take notes that things are going to come to you in strange ways and in the end, you are going to get exactly what you want. Now that we answered your question as to what is manifest destiny, it is time to start 'knowing' that what you want will come to you.

2009 Economic Summit

Posted by: cooltech in Untagged  on

On March 14th 2009, Cooley Technologies was invited to speak at New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church  2009 Economic Summit.  Cooley Technologies along with Harris Bank was present to discuss various areas of running a business.

There were many questions and comments that were brought up at the Economic Summit.  The more common ones I received were how did I get started, what were some of the challenges faced, and how to recognize your passion and live in it.

I had a wonderful time at the Economic Summit, as it's very fulfilling to share my story with others and bring inspiration to them.  I am looking forward to returning to the church and talking more to others about how to get started in running and operating your own business.

Finding Your Purpose?

Posted by: cooltech in Untagged  on

In a short period of 3 years, the LORD has blessed me richly to work with dynamic ministries in designing their branding and web presence for their target audience.

I truly feel this is a gift and my passion the LORD has given me.  As I'm sure you might agree, we all have a purpose here on earth.  Some people are able to identify it sooner than others.  The LORD has given every single person a purpose to do during our short time on this earth.  Its up to us, to be able to have the wisdom, knowledge and discernment to be able to recognize it and tap into it so the LORD can "enlarge our territory" to allow us to give him the Glory.  I feel I'm working within my purpose and would like to share my story with you.

As a black women who has pretty much worked in a  male dominated industry has been challenging.  However, I can say that during my corporate america "bootcamp" training, it gave me the insight, business and technical skills to climb the ladder and transfer those skills into entrepreuership.

I was recently laid off from my job as a Network Engineer at a small firm in Chicago, IL.  It was more of a blessing in disquise becuase the same day I got laid off,  I was  approved for funding for my small business loan.  Yes the LORD is good and I'm truly thankful.

This has been a tremendous blessing and I intend to utilize my skills and talents to help our community, specifically the church community.

During these hard times with our economy, causing Americans to get laid off and loose there security with their jobs, I can say that I'm one of the African American success stories.  I do want others to know my story and not ever give up.  You just don't know how close you might be to the top.

Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone.

What's a content management system (CMS)?

A content management system is software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of. A major advantage of using a CMS is that it requires almost no technical skill or knowledge to manage. Since the CMS manages all your content, you don't have to.

What are some real world examples of what Joomla! can do?

Joomla is used all over the world to power Web sites of all shapes and sizes. For example:

  • Corporate Web sites or portals
  • Corporate intranets and extranets
  • Online magazines, newspapers, and publications
  • E-commerce and online reservations
  • Government applications
  • Small business Web sites
  • Non-profit and organizational Web sites
  • Community-based portals
  • School and church Web sites
  • Personal or family homepages
